HOME PARTIES PROVIDE FUN-FILLED PAMPERING FOR ATTENDEES
The Soap Lounge Brings “Scentual” Pleasures to In-Home Theme Shows
SAVANNAH, MO-Savannah local, Davina Fansher, knows how to make her guests feel pampered. In fact, she’s made a business out of it by offering home shows filled with foot massages, relaxing scents and fun-filled themes such as Girls Night Out, Spa Party, Pampered Bridal Showers and more.
Fansher, who has always loved to slather on lotions and beauty creams to indulge herself, was frustrated with the lack of products available that would hydrate her skin - and keep it hydrated - to her satisfaction. Out of desperation, she began to educate herself about essential ingredients in moisturizers and skin care merchandise. One thing led to another, and before long, Fansher, an in-home daycare operator and mother of two girls, started to experiment with beauty product recipes.
Sharing her successes with friends and family, Fansher was encouraged to sell her products. “I thought they were crazy,” she laughs. But after awhile the idea of creating and selling her own line of skin care fermented and she opened her company, The Soap Lounge, in April 2003.
Fansher relied on her love of pampering products to concoct a product line full of handmade bath and body pleasures, handcrafted candles, gift baskets and custom labels. She and her sister-in-law, Amy Fansher, also of Savannah, began to market the wares to people they knew and through online shopping at their website, TheSoapLounge.com.
The website centers around the theme of a nightclub with a “bubbly” background, “champagne bottle” containers and plenty of play on words. She designed an assortment of themed items with such names as Bath Wine, Bath Shots and No More Troubles soothing body bar, and introduces herself and sister-in-law, Amy, as “Your Bartender” and “Your Waitress,” respectively.
Inspired to expand her sales outlets, Fansher began offering products wholesale and opened the door to themed Home Shows in January 2004. Her goal is to share “that pampered feeling” with as many women as she can reach.
“All of our products are specially made to order,” she says. “We can customize any product to fit our customer’s needs - whether she wants a stronger fragrance or no fragrance at all. And we use only fresh ingredients with no harsh chemicals like those used in mass produced lines. We’ll even create a custom label for our products for any occasion.” That’s definitely better service than your local nightclub offers.
