Beauty Take-Out Introduces Upscale Beauty Products with an Oriental Flavor

PENSACOLA, FL - When Stefanie Simmons (Steff, as she is known to her friends) decided to form her own company in June, 2003, lady luck was smiling. Wanting to offer her clients unique beauty gifts, Simmons relied on her background in design and cosmetics to create a product line reminiscent of the orient. Using her fascination with colorful Chinese take-out boxes - those little fold-up cardboard cartons that Chinese restaurants use - she designed a collection that is both glamorous and trendy. The result was an innovative design several notches above the average bath and body gift sets that other companies offer.

Calling her company Beautytake-out by Steff, Simmons created gift packs adorned in vibrant-hued "take-out" boxes in a variety of colors including pink, red, orange, sage, and purple. She produced an assortment of themes with such exotic names as The Divine Diva, The Empress of Exercise, The Expectant Empress, The Green Tea Goddess, The Lucky Lady, and The Great Wall of Chocolate.

Inspired to use Eastern icons for good fortune throughout, Simmons’ Beauty Take-Out offers strawberry champagne fragranced "Lucky Lip Butter - in a star-shaped pot; Lucky Bath Tea; a votive candle and holder packaged with a lucky, gold, Chinese coin; fortune cookie soaps; bamboo graphics (another sign of luck to the Chinese); and even tasty, authentic fortune cookies.

Simmons clothed the take-out cartons with a graphic label of a woman with long, flowing hair, luxuriously lounging in a jade tub. Her high-heel ensconced feet peek out from a lavish array of bubbles, and bamboo shoots rise up around her. In the background is a gold medallion sporting the Chinese sign for double happiness. The image is one of pampered elegance with the glamorous flavor of the orient.

That’s just what Simmons was after. "I really wanted to create a trend-setter in the beauty and gift industry," she says. "I was so tired of looking at the same boring gift baskets."

"Women seem very enamored of Chinese take-out boxes," she adds, "not to mention, Hollywood glitz, so I wanted to create a gift that combines glamour with eastern elegance." Beauty Take-out certainly got lucky with that goal.
